Nothing empowers learning more than strong, healthy educator-student relationships. Students and teachers need to maintain cordial ties to bring out the best in each other.

A teacher’s success can be seen when all students in the classroom are able to realise their potential. Positive teacher-student bonds provide students with a sense of belonging at the school. In such scenarios, students develop confidence and are not restricted by the fear of failure. Here, students can turn to their teachers for advice and teachers are able to assist students in a better way.

Here’s how a classroom with happy students and teachers looks:

  • Teachers sparkle with enthusiasm and passion: Earnest teachers infuse energy into the classroom. They ensure students are actively engaged naturally. Their keenness can go a long way in ensuring their efficiency.
  • Learning becomes fun: Class never feels like a burden or a bore. Students are comfortable voicing their expectations and teachers are open to taking their opinions and helping them have the best learning experience.
  • Communication is easy: Communication is the key to great relationships. It is essential for students to convey their problems to their teachers. Educators need to understand their students’ perspective to deal with the matter and bring out the best in them.
  • Respect is mutual: Respect is a two-way street. It’s natural for teachers to expect respect from the young students. Students too deserve respect, even though they rarely say so directly.
  • Secure and safe: Teachers play a crucial role in inculcating good values that guide students not to criticise, bully or intimidate each other. This is all the more crucial in today’s connected world where students continue to keep in touch with their peers virtually after school hours. These ethics can help them stay away from any activity that can harm them or their peers.
  • A positive rapport between teachers and students cannot be built in a day or two. It takes significant time and continuous effort from both sides. The benefits for both are innumerable. Not only does this help the students in their education but grooms them as people, helps build character and prepares them for life after school. As for you, the teacher, not only do you learn how to do better at work, you will go up in the students’ esteem and your own.
