The discussion about being a better teacher inside a classroom has always been a never ending topic, especially in recent years where drastic measures in teaching methods and methodology have been adopted to meet the current technological and psychological changes in education. While various tools have been made available for teachers to face new challenges one-to-one training is always necessary but not always possible. Hence finding time to attend workshops and conferences has become necessary to keep abreast of the trends in teaching. One such was EduCarnival19, an event held at IIT Delhi in December 2019. It was a three-day conference for school leaders and teachers on ‘The joy of being an educator. The conference, of which this was the eleventh edition, attracted a diverse attracted diverse group of participants from various schools across the nation. Dr. Harish Chaudhry, Professor at IIT Delhi, was the conference Chairman. The list of speakers was a varied combination of national and international expertise from the education field. Topics and discussions mainly focused on the reflective teacher, self-assessment, innovative teaching methodologies, instructional strategies, emotional literacy and decoding anger for teachers. The school leaders
on the other hand had separate sessions on school readiness model, legal compliance, integrating 21st century values in schools, SEL skills, joy of teaching, pushing boundaries in educational leadership and so on, mainly focused on understanding the current challenges faced by school and teachers. Manish Sisodia, Deputy CM of Delhi and Education Minister, spoke about how many Government schools in Delhi have been able to raise the educational standards for their students. He said the joy of being a teacher is more like the joy of being a pilot the joy of seeing someone you have
taught fly high and fly well.
