Dear Educators/Teachers,
Being an educator is a blessing
Every educator has a moral mission and a commitment to mold confident, competent and compassionate young minds. Our aspiration for a better society and a better tomorrow leans heavily on these young minds and our teachers sow the seeds of change.
With the recent innovations in technology and the emergence of a plethora of teaching and learning aids, teaching and teachers are missing out on the credit and significance they rightfully deserve. It is high time we acknowledge this truth and invest in teachers and instruction as the first step towards excellence.
While we in India wait for the draft of the new ‘National Education Policy 2019’ to be finalised and implemented, many countries, taking a cue from Finland, have started moving towards decentralising the curriculum and encouraging local autonomy. They have begun to reap the benefits of that exercise. A few countries including ours are still following the top-down approach of the government deciding what and how the students should learn and what schools should teach.
What we need is not just a defined or refined process to see order and excellence in schools, we need a new culture led by school principals and teachers, to help us see order and excellence not just in schools but in the nation.
As we believe that educators are unnoticed social reformers, and an empowered teacher means empowered children and an empowered nation, we are launching this monthly publication focused on school education to inspire and empower educators across the country, make them aware of teaching and technology innovations they can use, update them about the recent educational news from home and abroad. We will get you insights from the change-makers and make this a platform to voice your ideas.
Our dreams of an equitable and just nation must begin from equitable classrooms. Despite the limitations and challenges, within a classroom your rules and you rule. Excellence without excuse will be our goal.
